Matt Tarka's songs accentuate his earnest voice and surround you in a technology-free world that is perpetually dusky, and full of the tension of change. His collection of songs have drawn comparisons to Neil Young, Bob Dylan and The Mountain Goats.

Matt Tarka has been recognized by Relix magazine as an "Artist on the Rise," and included his song "Indigo Bunting" in their October/November 2013 CD Sampler of new music.

His single, "Farragut Square" was released independently on April 1, 2014 and is featured as part of a compilation CD that was handed out at the 2014 LOCKN' Music Festival in Arrington, VA.

Tarka's songs are currently being broadcast on American Veterans Radio in 179 countries on all 7 continents, and was AVR's Artist of the Week from September 6-12, 2014. He has also been recognized as a "rising singer-songwriter" by The Deli Magazine, and was nominated for The Deli Magazine's DC Artist of the Month in September 2014.

Tarka will release a four song EP titled "Surely Late" on November 18th, 2016. "Surely Late" is produced by Ted Comerford (Jukebox the Ghost, Jonas Sees in Color), mixed by Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Wilco, Dinosaur Jr.), and mastered by Brad Blackwood (Maroon 5, Alison Krauss and Union Station, Gov't Mule).
